McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 - VIASA
VIASA was a Venezuelan airline, which was formed by the Venezuelan government in 1960 to fly international services to and from the country. In 1961 VIASA and KLM started cooperation. Because of this VIASA often flew Dutch-registered aircraft like Dougals DC-8, Boeing 747 and DC-10.
The relationship with KLM lasted 25 years. In 1989 VIASA was to be privatised and it was the Spanish flag carrier Iberia that took control of the Venezuelan airline. Iberia itself was almost bankrupt and that had a bad influence on VIASA. VIASA ceased operations in January 1997. The DC-10-30 on the picture is seen at Miami.
