![]() Site-logo by www.hobbyklok.nl Very often is your latest purchase from an auction or fair not in mint condition. The plating is worn down and you want to restore this in it's original state. Sometimes is cleaning enough or a small (re)paint job will do it's work. Or you can try to find spare-parts for your lighter. However, if your lighter is old, it is often very difficult to find 'mint' parts. The original manufacturer charges high prices for parts or, and that's more often the problem, the manufacturer does not exist any more. There is a solution for your problem. It's however a job for experts, but on the other hand, man has little to loose when it failes. You can replate your lighter by electricity. In Holland is a business that can provide you this equipment and you can find them at www.hobbyklok.nl They make a lot of things for clock's ect. but under the name 'galvaniseren' you can find your stuff. The package contains a manual how to use these materials. I've tried it with several Ronson's and succeeded after many hours of polishing (see picture on the left side). * If you want to try this too, make sure that you ventilate your room during the plating-proces! We are not responsible for the consequences of any kind caused by improper use of the materals advised in this site.
