1811
Napoleon ruled the European continent and was now at the peak
of his power. He defeated Austria in 1809 and again reduced its territory,
enlarging Bavaria, Warsaw and France itself. He created France's Illyrian
province on the Adriatic. Sweden, Denmark, Prussia and Austria were his allies,
and the Confederation of the Rhine stood under his. He quarrelled with his
brother Louis and annexed the Kingdom of Holland in 1810, making North-western
Germany a French department at the same time. The final battle would come
however when His "Grand Empire" attacked Russia in 1811. This finally, was the
war that Napoleon couldn’t win.
