     Scratches

    1.

This tutorial explains how to make a texture look older than it really is by adding some tiny scratches to its surface.

To complete this tutorial you will need a background texture ready.

    2.
Select the Paintbrush¹ tool. Set foreground color to white. Select the smallest brush (1 pixel in size).
    3.
Create a new layer. Draw some random strokes to create the effect of scratches.

Having a tablet will more easily assist you in creating natural looking scratches.

    4.
Set Blending Mode of the layer with scratches to Overlay and you are done!
