1. This is not really a tutorial on something particular, but rather an example of how one could use the Base Rust texture to create some rusty'n'dirty stuff. |

3. Create a new layer. Set foreground color to white and background to black. Select the Linear Gradient¹ tool and make a gradient from the left to the right as shown in the picture. |

4. Apply Glass filter (Filter > Distort > Glass) with Distortion and Smoothness set to 5. |

6. Load selection² from one of the channels (shown in the picture) used for the Base Rust texture. |

7. Using the Paint Bucket¹, fill selection with R: 169; G: 139; B: 79; HEX: A98B4F;. |

8. Set Blending Mode of the current layer to Color Burn. Add a layer mask² by clicking on the button to the left to the New Layer button in the Layers palette. |

10. Select the Sharpen¹ tool. Set Pressure to 50%. Select the layer with the Base Rust. Sharpen paces where you have "rusty" spots from the previous step, but don't overdo it. |
