Bumps

1. Would you like to give some depth and bumps to your texture without using a 3D program? It's very easy to do! With only two more layers you can make your texture look a completely different way! |

2. To go through this tutorial you will need a plain texture and a bump map ready. It's recommended to create and store bump maps on channels rather than on layers.

3. Load selection from the bump map channel |

4. Create a new layer and fill selection with white using the Paint Bucket tool. Set Blending Mode to Soft Light and Opacity to 50%. Please, keep selection on. |

5. Create a new layer and fill selection with black using the Paint Bucket tool. Set Blending Mode to Soft Light and Opacity to 50%. At this point, both black and white, layers will compensate each other and most likely you won't notice any changes on the texture.

6. To make bumps visible, offset one of the layers (black or white) in any direction you like. It's recommended not to offset it further than one pixel from its original position. Adjusting the opacity of both layers you may get more decent bumps or less noticeable bumps.
